Our story
started with
a conversation.
We’ve learned to smile at the first part,
but it’s the conversation that follows
that always matters most.
A mutual connection brought us together in Berlin, where friendship quickly turned into partnership.
One of us arrived with German roots and became proudly South African along the way; the other was born fully committed. Both equally passionate about travel, good company, and debating sport like it’s a profession.
Add shared humour, similar values, and the kind of friendship our partners “joke” about - that once we get talking, they may as well carry on without us and the foundations of SouthBound Stories were quietly being built long before the business had a name.

Curiosity, excitement, uncertainty, and plenty of questions shaped those conversations. We realised we were in a unique position to answer them honestly not through brochures or headlines, but through lived experiences, trusted relationships, and a perspective shaped both at home and abroad.

And wherever we went, one conversation kept finding its way back...
Not long after meeting, we began working together in a completely different industry brought together by a shared entrepreneurial mindset, complementary strengths, and a natural instinct for building things well. Over time, work and travel took us across more than ten countries, where we built lasting relationships, broadened our perspective, and learnt firsthand that trust and genuine connection are what make experiences memorable.
